The Netherlands' Harrie Smolders came second in the Longines FEI World Cup jumping final in Gothenburg this afternoon (Monday 28 March) in front of a sold out crowd.

Riding Emerald N.O.P. Smolders went clear in both rounds of the final leg of the three-part competition which has been running through the duration of the Gothenburg Horse Show. Smolders started on three penalties (accumulated over two previous competitions) and, despite those clear rounds, finished behind Switzerland's Steve Guerdat who also went clear twice, having started the round with no penalties.

Germany's Daniel Deusser was third.
