Looking at Cheltenham through the Lens

  • by

Hasn’t the weather been freezing over the last week or so especially as the crew have been ‘on tour’, donning their thermals to film a series of stable visits leading up to Cheltenham. Have to say though the Lloyd Bell jackets are nice and warm!!

Day 1 and it’s Location Lambourne and the home of Nicky Henderson. It was a welcome sight to see the Lady armed with sausage rolls as the glorious sunshine and blue skies were decidedly deceptive as to how cold it really was as Mr Henderson paraded his potential winners for the 2013 Festival. Another sausage bap and starting to feel the warmth again. Job done and off to the pub for a spot of lunch with the dish of the day – more sausages!!!

So from Berkshire to Somerset and a trip to see David Pipe and Paul Nicholls (cheese and pickle sarnies were disappointing). Starting to get in with the racing fraternity – the Press officer for these Cheltenham previews now calls Sam ‘the most optimistic person in racing’ as she is determined to get all the shots and interviews we need!

So onto the final day and we are Gloucestershire bound with a trip to Nigel Twiston Davies with sausage and bacon rolls cooking on the barbie, excellent coffee and a selection of chocolate and nibbles. Another freezing day but just seeing the horses on the gallops – what a majestic shot. Already what a sense of excitement leading up to one of the most significant weeks in the sport.
