In 2010 Lloyd Bell was responsible for interviewing the world famous Olympic and World Champion Haile Gebrselassie. This resulted in worldwide radio coverage of Haile and the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon.
To secure further coverage in 2011, the team researched and identified a powerful human interest story – focusing on British marathon participant Alex Flynn. Diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Flynn is undertaking a gruelling challenge to complete 10 million metres across the world by 2014 – including the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon.
This admirable and inspiring story enabled Lloyd Bell to set up interviews with UK stations pre, during and post the marathon- thus maximising coverage of the event beyond the sporting interest element.
